At a team dinner, Marta and James discover that they have very different experiences. Marta has travelled alone, but she has never lived abroad. James has already worked in three countries, although he has not learned Japanese yet. They ask each other questions with Have you ever...? because the exact time is not important. When they mention a finished time, such as last summer or in 2022, they use the Past Simple instead.
